Getaway

This weekend the TransCape staff had a weekend away in Port Alfred. What an amazing weekend! We were at the family home of our operational manager and it was actually probably one of the bigger homes I have ever been in! It was stunning. Her parents live in a community of huge houses that were built in this kind of canal/river/marina place so that every home faces a river and has a dock in the river, most of which had beautiful boats attached to them. Being there made it almost possible to forget that you were in Africa, it was like being in a whole other world, completely opposite to what we live in everyday. The town kind of reminded me of Kenora. It was alot like being back in Canada for a weekend. It was amazing to be out of rural living and into a beautiful home in a city.
We just chilled there all weekend, spending saturday at the beach and then on Sunday we went to her family's game farm out of the city where we took this big safari truck out into the bush where there were Zebras and monkeys and ostrages all other forms of antelope and deer that can only be seen in Africa. It was soo cool.
It was very cool to be able to get to know the people I work with outside of a working environment and in a place where we could all just relax.
